  • Comprehensive Eye Exams

    cornerstone eye exams

Since many potential ocular and medical conditions leading to vision loss and blindness can have little or no symptoms early in the course of the disease, a thorough or comprehensive eye examination on a regular, preferably yearly, basis is invaluable.

Additionally, a vision evaluation is indicated any time a new or returning symptom is experienced, regardless of the time since your last eye exam.

Comprehensive eye examination should, in fact, be performed before the age of 1 year, at age 6-12 months or sooner if an infant exhibits symptoms.

Early examination detects potential problems that can lead to learning and developmental issues later.

    Consider these statistics:

    • 1 in 10 children is at risk from undiagnosed vision problems.
    • 1 in 25 will develop strabismus (commonly known as crossed eyes) a risk factor for amblyopia.
    • 1 in 30 children will have amblyopia (often referred to as lazy eye), a leading cause of vision loss in people under the age of 45 years.
    • 1 in 33 will have blurry vision due to near-sightedness (myopia), far-sightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism, and will need to wear glasses or contact lenses.
    • 1 in 100 will be have or be at risk for eye diseases such as glaucoma.
    • 1 in 20,000 children have retinoblastoma (intraocular cancer), the seventh most common pediatric cancer.

At Cornerstone Optometry, no one is too young
    to have their eyes examined.

    cornerstone contact lenses

We maintain a huge inventory of contact lenses and welcome any and all challenging (or routine) contact lens fittings.

Just remember that a comprehensive examination is required first, and contact lens services are in addition to comprehensive exam services, so additional fees are required.

Please call for a list of general contact lens fees for services, but please keep in mind that an EXACT quote cannot be given prior to a comprehensive exam. Our doctors of optometry can fit any contact lens that is manufactured, including specialty contact lenses such as bifocals, multifocals, and keratoconus lenses.

People with keratoconus know how frustrating it is to get sharp vision, and often times have been unsuccessful and repeatedly frustrated. We are saving a seat for you at Cornerstone Optometry! You have many alternatives.

"Low vision" refers to decreased visual acuity, even with a person's best spectacle or contact lens correction.
Impaired vision—even with glasses or contacts—can be the result of many conditions, including macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, optic atrophy, or others.

Low vision aids such as magnifiers, closed circuit television (CCTV), or large print publications may be required for such patients to perform required daily activities independently.

    stephen keller, o.d.
Generally, macular degeneration can be categorized into two main types: "dry," meaning without the presence of new blood vessel growth in the retina, or "wet," indicating the presence of new blood vessels and blood leakage into the retina.
We provide genetic testing to evaluate the risk of a patient with early or intermediate (dry) macular degeneration progressing to advanced choroidal neovascular disease (wet) within two, five, and 10 years.
